Bead Strand-Recycled Red and White Glass
These striking red and white powder glass beads are made by the Krobo People of Ghana, Africa. Powder glass beads are made by crushing glass to a fine powder and heating to fuse particles together. The glass is then poured into clay molds, with a cassava leaf stem used to create the center hole. The beads are baked in an oven, fusing the glass and burning up the cassava stem. This is a centuries old technique still being used today. Shade of red may vary slightly from photo.
